VIPS VISIT ADVANCE TRAINING
It was an honour to welcome Scottish Labour Leader Anas Sarwar, fellow MSP Daniel Johnson and Councillor Kirsteen Sullivan from West Lothian Council to our Training Academy in Livingston today.
The trio were given a tour of the facility before taking part in a Virtual Roundtable with businesses and stakeholders from across the industry to discuss the big issues facing construction in Scotland, including the skills shortage.
Gary Logan, Training and Development Manager, Advance Training said: “It has never been more important for companies to invest in their workforce as there is a real shortage of skilled workers in the construction industry as a result of Brexit.
Encouraging young people into industry is so important and we are delighted that politicians like Anas Sarwar are putting the spotlight on this issue– there are so many different careers available from operating plant to civil engineering, surveying and lots of different avenues to get there including Modern Apprenticeships and the Kickstart Scheme.”
